3 Tips to Find a Form of Movement That Works For You
You have heard me speak time and time again the importance of finding workouts that work with your bodies not against them. Let’s take a dive into 3 tips I used to figure out what type of movement and how much work for your body.
Stop Comparison
Every single body is different. Every person is different. What works for one might not work for you. That’s why comparing yourself to someone will NEVER give you the results you want. trying to copy what another girl, that you want to look like, is doing might not work for you. However, you can get the results of your dreams if you work with your body. Comparison is the most common read people get burned out and stop making progress in the gym.
Pay attention to how you feel after your workout
In order to truly understanding if your body enjoyed a particular form of exercise and it didn’t lead to chronic stress, we need to tune in to your bodies. Try different forms of movement and stay consistent with it for ~ 30 days. Take note of how you feel after the workout and later on in the day. Do you feel exhausted? Do you feel more productive? Did your energy levels decline? These are questions to ask yourself day to day. Some symptoms that might take more time to come up would be are you feeling inflammation, joint pain, lack of mobility, injury, or chronic fatigue. If you’re feeling any of these negative symptoms, then that is a sign that that form of movement is not for you. Movement should make you feel GOOD, it should not be able beating yourself up. Movement it there to increase our health, not cause chronic health conditions.
I do want to clarify that this can change from time to time. If you are in a more highly stressed season of life, your body might need slower less intense movement like Pilates, while when its not it might love the HIIT workout. This is why fitness is a journey never a destination.
Do you enjoy this form of movement
Finally, the only way to see real result in fitness is to stay consistent. Consistency is never going to happen if you dread going to the boot camp class every morning or that yoga class. You have to slightly enjoy what you are doing to stick to eat and reap the benefits. So ask yourself: do I enjoy this workout?
I hope this helps. I would love to hear from you. Dm me over on Instagram or leave a comment. What are some forms of movement that are currently working for you and that you are loving.
