5 Things That Make Me Feel Good
I wanted to share five things that I have been doing recently that have been making me feel my best! With many challenges I have faced, I really
wanted to focus on my mental, physical, and spiritual health in 2025. I have promised my self to be consistent and get back to my true personality,
instead of being the person who was just trying to survive for so many years. These 5 things provide me with tools to help keep stress down and
help me becoming more present.
1. Movement
Movement doesn’t have to be a workout necessarily. It can be a walk,
or a deep stretch. I prioritize movement Every single day. I cannot
imagine life without it. It is a foundational piece on my life. Pilates has
been so transformative for me, mentally as well as physical. You are
forced to slow down and get really present in the movements. It
makes you forget about all the outside noise during your workout so
you can truly focus on your muscles. This gives my mind a positive
stimulation instead of thinking about the negative things going on. i
also love to do strength training because it makes me feel strong and
good in my body. I can tell my body loves the combo. I workout 5x a
week with a mixture of pilates and strength. I make sure to stretch
everyday and go on walks. I walk and stretch on my rest days to keep
my mind happy!
The best way to find results is to listen to your body. Some days if your
feeling like your workout is going to be too much, opt for a slow less
intense form or just go for a walk. All counts!
2. Gratitude
Gratitude is the best way to begin transforming your thought life. I
make sure to journal every morning right after my quiet time, of 3
things I am thankful for. I have noticed that just writing it down is often overlooked, but if you write it down and really sit there with it you will
truly feel the gratefulness wash over you. It only takes like 5 minutes, so I make a point to do it every morning.
3. Nourishment
You are what you eat. It is crucial for me to make sure i’m fueling my
body well. It has not always been this way. I have had my personal
struggles (part of my personal story) it this. I don’t want to feel like
junk, so I don’t put junk food into my body. It’s crucial for me to have
balanced meals for my anxiety. Food is medicine!
4. Permission to rest
I really struggle with allowing myself to rest. In a world that is always
telling you to do more, push yourself harder, and be as productive as
possible, I feel like I have been brainwashed in a sense, to view rest as
unsafe. I have learned that this actually does more harm than good.
The grind mindset (when it is pushed over the top) actually makes
your nervous system to begin to view rest as bad, and you begin to
start living your life in a chronic state of flight or fight. I have vaguely
spoken about this before, but I have lived in a state of fight or flight for
over 5 years now and have decided NO MORE. It’s time for me to view rest as beneficial and SAFE. It’s a journey so I can’t say I have mastered it,
but I am getting better day after day. The freedom and health benefits rest brings is amazing!
5. Choosing to be joyful
We have a choice ever day to choose joy. Happiness is fleeting, but joy is constant. Obviously, we can only experience true joy in Jesus. I have the
tendency to be consumed by my negative thoughts. However I have decided that I can choose to be joyful today no matter my situation and so can
you! Gratitude really helps begin this shift of our thought patterns. I want to be a person that people fill energized when they are around me. I do
not want to be a person who sucks the life out of others!
