9 Tips to Staying Motivated on Your Wellness Journey

Everyone at 1 time or another on their wellness journey as struggled with

motivation. You might have these amazing aspirations to wake up early go to

the gym, workout. However somewhere in the morning when its actually time

to get out of bed, you find your lacking the motivation to turn off the alarm and

get up. What do you do? How do you get out of this mindset. First of all its

completely normal when you don’t have the discipline of going to the gym, to

feel like you are never motivated or are always skipping your workouts. Here

are 9 tips that will help you find that motivation and start regularly getting

movement into your day.

Put workout clothes on right when you wake up

when you wake up in the morning and you slip on your workout clothes you

are much more likely to show up to your workout. Think about it, if you are

lounging around in your pjs for the first hour you are not setting your day up

correctly in order to find that motivation. Sometimes we need a kickstart first

thing in order to show up.

Reflect

Try asking yourself these questions when you feel unmotivated:

1.    Ask yourself do I ever regret a workout after I do it?

2.      Will I have more energy after I workout?

3.     How am I going to feel afterwards

Truth is every time I think back, I have never regretted a workout. I feel better mentally and physically after a workout (obviously with workouts that work for your

body). This little reflection will do wonders to get you into your next session.

Find workouts that you actually enjoy

you have to enjoy what you are doing in order for you to be consistent. Remember we are trying to make a lifestyle change and if you dread your hit class at 6am

every morning, maybe it’s time to find another form of movement that you get excited to do.

Schedule time

Physically in your schedule time block your workouts in. if we prioritize and

make the time to show up, we are 10x more likely to. When you make plans to

go to coffee with a friend, you most likely write it into your calendar so you

won’t forget and can actually show up. Same rules apple for movement.  If you

prefer to work out in the morning, wake up a little bit early and get your

workout scheduled into your day. It really does not matter when you do it. Just

prioritize and schedule it.

Workout with a friend or go to a group class

Change it up if you feel bored with your workout routine maybe its times to try

a group class. We are so much more motivated when we are doing a activity

with people. having an accountability partner is one of the best things you can

do in order to get you out of the unmotivated rut.

Romanticize your workout

When I say romanticize your workout, I mean make it something appealing.

Get that new workout set that makes you feel cute. Play your favorite music

during your workout. Treat yourself to that coffee with a friend after the

workout. The more appealing we make it the more fun we will have during it.

Commit to a shorter workout

Your workouts do Not have to be so long. Consistency is key in finding results. If all you have is 20 minute, then just commit to a 20 minute workout. You will be

surprised with how much work you can get done in such a little amount of time. Anything is better than nothing and the all or nothing mentality is what is keeping

you from achieving results.

Try an at home workout

Try a at home workout if you feel like driving to the gym is taking to much time. You are able to achieve such amazing results by consistently showing up. Roll out

your mat and get a workout in in your living room.

Allow your rest days

Our bodies must have rest in order to keep moving forward. Allowing yourself rest days prevent burn out and allows our bodies to recover from our workouts.

Without you will get burnout, cortisol will rise, and the results we want so badly are never going to come.
